As soon as I finished reading Nicole Williams’s CLASH a few weeks back, I immediately checked if there was a sequel, and imagine my joy when I found out that yes, indeed, the sequel CRASH was out. CRASH continues the love story of Jude and Lucy – only this time, they’re both in college, he at Syracuse, she at Julliard. I mentioned before that while reading CLASH, Jude was a man that I didn’t want to love, but did anyways. In reading CLASH, I found him to be hot-headed, insecure, and temperamental. Not exactly a ringing endorsement, but there was something about him and his relationship with Lucy that worked for me. In CRASH, Jude was still temperamental, but much more secure in his place as a star college football player and loving boyfriend to Lucy. Now Lucy… she had me up in arms throughout most of the book. This time, she was the one who was insecure about her relationship with Jude, especially when a certain cheerleader tries to worm her way into Jude’s life (and bed). The exchanges between Lucy and Holly in trying to out-with and out-vamp said cheerleader was hilarious. Plus, that bathroom scene? H-O-T. A good dose of angst, steam, and jokes from a host of side characters, CRASH was a fun weekend treat.
Overall: 3 out of 5 stars
